Drawing and photography are central to my practice. Both make pressing - if sometimes fictitious - claims to the capture of lost moments.

Remembering
Some days, there is no time for anything but the quickest sketch from one of the many photographs I've taken. There are so, so many of Possum and her litter brother Tushy, taken over the years. They lived sometimes together, sometimes apart, and where the funniest, most quirky little double act. Tushy is still soldiering on, despite his kidney trouble, living happily and carrot obsessed in Sintra with Monica and João.

Out and about
Indian ink brush marker and watercolour in big sketchbook.
I have these really silly individual letter stencils - you never know which way round the letter is: makes for inadvertently zany graphics!

England (II)
In the next village, a church service for pets last Sunday, including blessing. Couldn't resist going for the photo op. Drawing done only today, so alas, not from observation. The vicar brought her own two dogs, of course.

England
These elderly ladies having tea in a garden in a nearby village were all wearing blue.

Deer
Walking in the parks of the Burghley Estate in Stamford yesterday, we saw two deer with the most phenomenal antlers. I took some photos and made a quick sketch after I downloaded them today.

Poppies
Brush marker, watercolour pencil and ink in big sketchbook
There are still poppies in the fields, bursts of them. I took photos on the way back from town because I didn't have my materials with me, and then drew them at home. I don't have any red ink, I suppose I should have used watercolours.

Five minutes, rainy day
Brush markers on gouache wash in big sketchbook.
Blissfully fresh, rainy day, the sky bruised and brooding and the air marvellously cool. Why do I know this isn't everyone's idea of a beautiful June day?

Very quick again: a walk in the countryside
Pencil and pencil crayon in large sketchbook.
And because I can't capture the beauty of it... the blossom of the flowering chestnut tree (for Ea!)

Quick morning cuddle
Pencil in big sketchbook.
I think there won't be any more time to be at the computer today, we've got some friends coming from London for the rest of the bank holiday weekend. So a real quickie today.
