Drawing and photography are central to my practice. Both make pressing - if sometimes fictitious - claims to the capture of lost moments.

finally, after procrastinating for months, have started thinking about updating my website, so overdue... so looking at old work... no doubt some nostalgic posts will follow, photography at the moment.

Out and about

Busy day on the trot yesterday. I had to go to London to visit my old friend, the dentist. I managed to see an exhibition and have tea with a good friend (lovely seeing you looking so well, D!)

Train

Brush markers in Moleskine sketchbook.

The brush pen doesn't respond to pressure like a real brush, and doesn't produce the surprise and beauty of a real brush either - but also, hey, no blobs! And so transportable. Actually, it's a glorified marker, but a very seductive instrument because so smooth and easy to use, and I like the chunky lines  because my tendency is to a nervy line, and a thin point makes that too scratchy sometimes. But with a brush pen, you can't really get fine detail, should you want to. Great colours though. I love using various tones of the same colour, especially the shades of grey.

Reading the budget report on the train

Ink pen, pencil crayon and watercolour in Moleskine sketchbook.

Dentist yesterday in London. On the train home, everyone was reading about the new budget. Hard again on the smokers and drinkers, a few stealth taxes for us "haves", so far so political.

I was away yesterday. The London trains were running punctually.
