Drawing and photography are central to my practice. Both make pressing - if sometimes fictitious - claims to the capture of lost moments.

still unsure

Since I've been spending all my blogging time working on my website, I'm still not quite sure what role this blog is going to play. In the meanwhile, am using my site's blog to keep track of activities... have had no time to either draw or post photographs, alas. Probably calls for better time management!

Anyhow, the blog address@ the website is ruthrosengarten.com/blog

my website

I've been so scarce here because all my digital energies over the past couple of weeks - since returning from Lisbon - have gone into redesigning my website from scratch, all on my own! Steep learning curve, though the amazing, user friendly web-based software now available makes this so much easier than when I designed my glitchy first website some years ago. Since learning has been part of the process, some of the earlier work has to be re-scanned or re-digitised at a slightly higher resolution; other images have to be sized down. But it is now viewable as a fully operational preview. Quite a few bodies of work have still to be included, as well as more pages in the 'Curated' section, which is the most time consuming bit.
Anyhow, here it is.

finally, after procrastinating for months, have started thinking about updating my website, so overdue... so looking at old work... no doubt some nostalgic posts will follow, photography at the moment.

Between Memory and Archive

These are some installation shots from the exhibition Between Memory and Archive which I curated for the Museu Colecção Berardo in Lisbon (03 July - 29 September 2013). The publication on which this show was based, a small book titled Between Memory and Document: The Archival Turn in Contemporary Art, is downloadable here for the duration of the exhibition.
